Intersectionality, Race/Ethnicity, Sociology of Education, Inequalities and Social Justice, Culture and Cognition

My research interests are varied, ranging from sociology of education, to social movements, to entrepreneurship; all of which converge into my interest in micro-level resistance. My dissertation—Hair That Moves: Black Solidarity, Cognitive Pluralism and The Natural Hair Movement—contributes to what we know about everyday social movements. In addition, my study increases sociological knowledge about Black women’s perceptions and ideologies about collective consciousness, collective action, and social change.
