I am a Ph.D. candidate at Georgia State University in Sociology Department and my concentration is Race and Urban studies. I received my Masters in Sociology from San Diego State University and my Bachelors in Sociology and International Studies at University of California, San Diego. My dissertation proposal involves an intersectional examination of gender dynamics among gang members. Specifically, it will analyze if and how concentrated poverty has contributed to gang membership and hyper-masculinity among men and women in Southeast San Diego.
