Gender & Sexuality
Jordan Forrest Miller completed their MA from Georgia State’s Institute for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in 2016 and their BSEd from the University of Tennessee in 2013, majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Philosophy. Based on over 60 hours of observation of trans YouTube content and qualitative interviews with six trans YouTube video bloggers (vloggers), their master’s thesis explored the value and difficulty of using YouTube to disrupt normative understandings of what it means to be trans. Expanding this project, their dissertation is based on a comparative content analysis of the #WeHappyTrans digital activism project founded in 2013 using the theoretical frameworks of transnormativity and intersectionality. They expect to complete their PhD in Sociology from Georgia State in Spring 2020.
