We are a leading sociology department engaged in scholarly research, graduate training, undergraduate education, and community engagement in pursuit of social justice.
Through innovative scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and community service, we craft and translate sociological knowledge to foster social justice, equality, and policy transformation. We are dedicated to improving public understanding of social issues locally and globally related to social class, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexuality, aging and life course, education, health and illness, urban and community life.
