Gender & Sexuality

I have a BA in Psychology from North Carolina State University and an MA in Public Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. As an academic, I have worked as a teaching assistant, research assistant, community program coordinator, and sociology instructor. My main areas of interest are centered on aspects of intersectional social inequality, particularly as they pertain to power, privilege, transgression and oppression. As such, my research tends to focus on sex, gender, sexuality, race, class, (globalized) capitalism, dis/ability, militarization, political economy and social movements. My teaching style, too, is informed by the same sensibility, as I encourage students to build a critical voice through which they can “question everything.”
